On a scam call
Clear scam calls get hung up.
Unknown callers are forwarded through Guardian Circle. If a call only looks suspicious, a warning shows on the phone and the call keeps going. If it is a clear scam, for example asking for money or bank details, the call is hung up and the number is blocked. Family gets an alert right after that hang-up, not during the call. A call that only looks suspicious does not alert family. Saved contacts ring straight through by default.

Coverage
One app for the places scammers actually show up.
Unknown senders by default. You can pick apps in Advanced settings. We never read full inboxes or chat histories. You can also paste a message or share a post to check it in the app.
Phone calls and voicemail
Unknown callers are forwarded through Guardian Circle and checked while they talk. A clear scam is hung up. People in the contact list ring straight through by default. Missed calls can leave a short voicemail that we write down and check.
Texts
Texts from unknown numbers are checked in full. By default, everyday texts from saved contacts stay on the phone.
WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, Signal, and TikTok
We read only what the phone's notification shows, never the chat history. For a short message, that is often the whole message. Unknown senders by default. You can change that per app.
Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, and Proton: whatever the notification shows. Never the inbox.

Share a video or post
From YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook, tap Share, then Guardian Circle. YouTube can check the public video. TikTok uses the public caption. Instagram and Facebook check the wording you share or type, not the full post.

While we test, install happens by invite. Large type and simple words. Grant permissions once.

A one-time phone setting sends unknown calls through Guardian Circle so we can check them and hang up clear scams.

Connect family if you want
On the protected phone, open Settings, tap Add a caregiver, and share a 6-digit code. The person who enters it gets alerts. That is how a family watches over an older parent.
Privacy
We don't need the whole address book.
Contact names stay on the phone. Chat and email: only what the notification shows. Never the inbox or chat history. Scam checking uses Google AI in Montreal. History is stored in Toronto. Phone calls pass through our phone partner, Twilio, to be checked. Live calls are never recorded. Voicemail audio is kept in Toronto for 30 days. We do not train public AI models on your data.

- What is Guardian Circle?
- Guardian Circle is a Canadian Android app for you or someone you care about. It checks suspicious calls, texts, and message previews for scams, hangs up clear scam calls, and can alert family. We built it with extra care for older parents and the family who watches over them.
- How do I get it?
- While we test, the app is available by invite on Google Play. Go to guardiancircle.ca/get-the-app.
- Is it on iPhone?
- Not yet. Guardian Circle works on Android phones for now.
- How does call protection work?
- The person turns on call forwarding so calls from unknown numbers go to a Guardian Circle number at our phone partner Twilio. While the call is live, the audio is turned into words by Google’s speech service, then those words are checked for scam patterns. A suspicious call shows a warning and continues. A clear scam is hung up and the number blocked. Family is alerted after the hang-up. We keep the transcript and the result in History. Live calls are never recorded.
- Is there a big spam-number list you look up?
- No. We do not buy a national spam phone book. Protection uses the phone or carrier’s spam flags, numbers already caught on this account, and (when call protection is on) turning the caller’s words into text and checking that text.
- Do you record voicemail from people they know?
- The focus is unknown callers. Strangers’ voicemails can be written down and checked. Calls from saved contacts are skipped by default. A voicemail is about two minutes at most.
